You'll be happy to hear that external forces have come to bear and imposed a deadline to sh^t or get off the pot.
Development has been painfully slow in the past few months, and we realize we've been trying everyone's patience and loyalty.
In the past few days I've gotten back into the lab and started hashing out some solutions for some of the deficiencies that have been nagging at me. Nothing like stepping away from the problem, for a while, to come back at it with fresh ideas.
Anyway, January 15th 2010 is our go / no-go date for a viable design. Buckle up.

You say you dont do the blog psts becouse they take time. You are correct. The ting you didnt take into concideration is that the "fans" of this concept are also important. A concert without an audience isnt even a concert...
I hope i speak for all posters here if i say only short line once in a while is greatly appreciated... wet our appetites so to speak. We dont expect you to post a encyclopedia... please keep us in the loop a bit.

Like I said, no new announcement before 15 January 2010...the sh*t or get off the pot date. I'm in love with the concept of what is supposedly being produced here, but after following the site long enough I can't help but stand by my pessimistic prediction, which I made earlier. So far, I'm right.
Updates have only been made every few months, as far as keeping everyone posted. The last update was in November. Tomorrow is 15 January, the "sh*t or get off the pot" date, and no updates on progress. As badly as I want to see a product show up as 'ready to order', I believe my prediction of 'design concept failure' is what will be posted eventually. If the website doesn't just disappear altogether.
Hey rotilley2003, I probably should have explained the situation better - but the plan was to make an announcement on January 15th, and I hadn't really intended to post intermediate progress reports along the way. The reasoning being; that those blog posts take time and I wanted to devote any of my time to the engineering work. In any case, the announcement will be up later tonight or tomorrow.

Hope it all works out, I thought the project was a hoax, guess we'll find out soon! I'm looking forward to helping to test. Guaranteed if you are serious about this project, It will make tons of $$$.
I can't see why you can't get on once a week and let us know what is going on. We have not even seen the prototype or any new workings in the last 6 months. Its getting harder and harder to believe you guys will actually get it done!

My prediction, based on experience following this website:
They have listed a 'get off the pot' date of 15 January 2010. This was the first business posting after a few months of inactivity, which has been a trend for the longest time. There will not be another post until 15 January 2010, and then it will be a post stating that the design concept could not be actualized, and the idea is finished.
Just my opinion. Not sure if this site has been a fraud or not, but I am a skeptic after so long.
I don't blame you for being skeptical rotilley2003 - although I'm not sure what we'd have to gain by doing this as a fraud? There are no advertisements on this site or any other ploys at making money.
In any case, it's a challenging enterprise, and although progress has been painfully slow, our intentions are good.

I shouldn't have used the word 'fraud'. I apologize for that. That being said, like others, I have grown suspicious over time and can't help but feel this site has been a hoax. Good intentions? Maybe. Testing the market? Again, maybe.
15 January 2010 is only a few days away. I stand by my prediction, as skeptical as it may be. No earlier than 15 January will there be another official announcement, and it will be of the nature that this product is not going to happen.
I will be sad.
Can't wait to see what the final design looks like!
Many have been watching for quite some time. Really looking forward to seeing (hopefully testing
the final outcome. Personally I thought it was a forgotten project.

WOW, I almost forgot about u guys, I'm glad I came back to see if there was any news on the rubbot front. Looks like I'll have to follow you for a few months again......
If the date is what you need to get it done, then so be it. But I understand that anything worth doing, isn't easy and takes time. Glad to hear you guys are back at it.
YAY, finally something to look forward to. I mean a real timeline, or at least a timeframe. I can't wait, and my wife can't wait either (not to use, but so I stop bugging her all the time).
Does that mean there will still be a beta test? And if so am I in or what???
Finally, a date by which I will know if I can either rejoice in the ingenuity of man or stop checking this site and go cry in a beer.

Well as glad as I am to hear that after nearly two years of waiting. I have found that I must turn else wear for my

yeah, it's a cool concept...but there's three major problems...
1...it's pay-per-view. As with all pay-per-view, that means your "viewing habits" are logged and data-mineable somewhere...I might be willing to overlook the next two problems if I could purchase media that I'd own, permanently, to watch as much as I wanted, without requiring an internet connection.
2...It requires a PC. With the amount of hardware they've got you hauling around, you'd think they could have found a way to use signaling from an in-line audio tap from your normal DVD player or some such thing. I have a treadmill that does that. Well...not *that* per se, but it takes signals from an existing audio track. I mean, my office with the big monitor is behind a *glass door.* That's not an ideal environment.
3...It's MASSIVE. The only way they could make it more awkward is to hide it in a Real Doll.
Still, if they'd do away with the pay-per-view model, I'd buy one and deal with the last two problems. And I'd probably still buy one of these, for times when I didn't want to spend a half our hooking up, then subsequently cleaning up, all the hardware. Which would probably be most times. So the RealTouch might be a good "weekend toy," but I think the Rubbot would be a good daily driver, if you will.
