Just a quick update from the front lines.
Quick response to the comments on the last blog: sounds like customization isn't a big priority, so we're not going to waste time on that. That's not to say, with a little ingenuity, you can't tweak out the Rubbot to cook you bacon and drive you to work. We're just not going to tell you how to do it ; )
qDot raised the "don't bog down with too many features - in early versions", which I'd normally totally agree with. Rubbot has to rock the male sex toy world right out of the gate, or there probably won't be a version 2. So we're spending some extra time to make sure we get an instant home-run with this robot masturbator.
Hopefully by mid-June (2008) we'll release our first units for testing. Whoo hooo!

Im wondering who's doing the pre-beta testing and if there where any injures? OUCH! I can see it now 3 guy's standing around with clip boards lurking over a bed with a naked guy with the rubbot moving up and down his shaft. Hope he took his blue pill!

suggestion for optional accessory: what about a waist strap? from the looks of things, this thing packs a lot of 'jerk'. Why not add a strap of some kind to secure it to the body, making it a true "hands free" experience. Nylon straps seem to be fairly inexpensive.
this thing rawks so far...keep it up!! hope I'm able to be a beta tester
some sort of elastic would seem better to me, as long as it didnt feel weird and uncomfortable.

I was doing the count down before, however I am just that much more happy doing it this time as well, 32 days left and I am getting stroked about the creation, cant wait to test it out....

Definitely keep it simple, better to have a solid product that does what it's supposed to than one that looks cool on paper and leaves you feeling frustrated and ripped off. But you could sort of fudge the custumization angle a bit by having different colors. The core unit would be the same but in multiple colors everyone can still personalize a bit. Look at what it did for vibrators and Nintendo.

I cannot wait for the beta version, I am willing to sacrifice my average sized tool for the good of the many. The only way to truly test it is through trial and error. It will be an adruous testing schedule, but I have been training for years and I am ready to be UP, for the cause!!

Makes sense. Seems lie if you go to beta with a lackluster product then the final release version, no matter how improved, is going to be tainted. also, look into getting your trisdekaphobia taken care of, it can be crippling in large doses.
I agree, product first, customisation later. It all takes off, then it gives you some ideas about what to include in the next version. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Will the beta be shipped worldwide?

Say...while we're talking about options...when these go to production and you start selling them online, do you think there'll be sales tax?
Because I think tax would be a very uncomfortable way to hold it on.

As much as I love bacon I'm not letting something that gets that hot anywhere near my bits though.
I still think switching out "inserts" would be cool, but don't know how feasable, do what you think will work, and we'll help with the testing! Keep up the great work guys!

I'm relieved that customization won't be in to hamper it down. You want to hit the gate running. It is important that all the bloggers and testers receive as top-notch a product as possible to ensure good Word of mouth. When you are going against a popular product like ILF's and a myriad of other (cheap) toys, the product must justify its price and worth. I'm sure you guys will succeed.
I just want to thank you for taking your time and doing things the right way! I understand that you guys are independant but i'll bet there are people out there willing to invest in this sort of thing. You might want to come up with a pre-order once the beta is successfull to generate initial funding... just an idea.
I was really psyched when the beta date counter was in single digits, now back up in the 2 month range. I will be moving about that time as the new projected date, how do I ensure you have my updated address for shipping the beta for testing?

!! I also would like to know whether or not i am indeed on the list for beta testing as i signed-up quite a while ago (seems like forever!) and was not sure if my request did go through, as my email server tends to flake-out on me. Thanks!
Go to the "My account" link. On the View tab, it says "beta tester" under "other" at the top of the page.
Now, that doesn't necessarily mean you're a guaranteed "in" for the beta, but it does mean you checked the box when you registered.
If you *don't* see the string, you can go to the "Edit" tab (it'll re-confirm your password), click "Other", and check the box that says "Beta Tester."
I signed up for beta tester,how can i make sure i can test the rubbot or if nothing else get the rubbot as soon as it is on the market.thanks
